Statutory and Mandatory Training

Skills for Health have a trusted benchmark for statutory and mandatory training and TyneHealth has chosen to align our staff’s training with it. You can align to the Skills for Health framework which is available on their website. The Subject Guide has a table that outlines the subject, audience, frequency of training and any comments.

Generally the Statutory and Mandatory Training can be covered through e-learning on E-learning for Healthcare. Both safeguarding and CPR are expected to be complete face-to-face with various frequencies. See below for options to complete this training.

Above is taken from the table in the Subject Guide

Safeguarding

There are two groups in North Tyneside that help support safeguarding training:

  • North Tyneside Safeguarding Adults Board. To see training opportunities click here.
  • North Tyneside Safeguarding Children Partnership. To see training opportunities click here.

As the Learning and Development Network we are scoping possibilities to support face-to-face training.

CPR

We provide face to face CPR training for North Tyneside staff that covers:

  • Adult and Paediatric resuscitation
  • AED use
  • Recognition and treatment of Anaphylaxis

Oliver McGowan Training on Learning Disability and Autism

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is the government’s preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff on learning disability and autism.

There are 2 tiers to the training:

  • Tier 1 for non-public facing roles
  • Tier 2 for public facing roles

Both tiers require the 90 minute e-learning available on e-learning for healthcare to begin with. Tier 1 then requires 60mins online interactive session. Tier 2 then requires 1 day face-to-face session.
